My First DIY Memory

My first DIY memory is with My grandmother. She was always telling me "Don't buy things, make things!!!" Its because of her that I always try to make as much as I can and buy secondhand and beautify it.

My family has always out of necessity had to make things we wanted or we didn't get them. Our Christmas gifts we usually handmade. My first doll was a raggedy Ann. We made homemade toys like slingshots, tom walkers, telephones made from cans and string. Mama worked in a cotton mill so she made our clothes from left over end pieces of gingham and calico. I didn't feel deprived.
