Only a solid door will do for an exterior door. Hollow core offers little security as it can be kicked or battered in. Hollow OK for interior unless you have sons (like I had) who will use a cowboy boot heel as a battering ram. Heel shaped holes in both sides of doors remain as history?

I personally love solid core for interior doors. They are beautiful and sturdy. Cannot get my husband to accept that they are used for interior....oh well
