We have removed more than our share of old, worn-out wallpaper from our home built circa 1885. Despite taking it all down, we still love the look of wallpaper.
Stencils are a perfect alternative to wallpaper. Modern stencils are laser cut, flexible, and they come in many designs. Stenciling mimics wallpaper without the hassle. If we get tired of the pattern, all we have to do is give the wall a light sanding and a couple of coats of fresh paint. That's it. No steaming and no scraping. Yes, please.
Cutting Edge Stencils saw our original post about decorating the butler's pantry, and they graciously offered to send us a stencil of our choice. We chose the Japanese Peonies allover design. In addition to the stencil, they sent along a stencil essentials kit which included a foam roller, stencil brush, and a clip-on stencil level.

Getting started was the hardest part, and I made plenty of mistakes. No, really. I'm serious. Someday, I will learn to follow directions like a good rule follower.
Despite all of my errors, the finished design turned out beautifully. To read the full story, and see the completed accent wall, please follow the link to our blog.
