If you have seen my tree skirt inspired by MaCkenzie-Childs. This beaded garland and drop bead Ornaments were also inspired by them and the colors I chose to go with it. I have a large window in the front of my home so I wanted to do a few thing. One I wanted to use large faceted clear plastic beads. I also used several glass or mirrored Beads. You can get them from several places my local hobby store carried all I needed. In the same section you have buy a small diameter wire or string. But you must look to check its weight capacity. The stronger the better. So when you go think thin but strong. You will need needle nose pliers. Don't for get to buy crimping beads they are much easier than tying a ton of knots.
This is a drop down Ornaments. I found that it hangs better if while you thread the beads you put the heavy or larger ones at the bottom. So choose your beads my were clear colored faceted beads.
First thing you need to do is determine the length and cut the thread. Then pass the thread through the crimping bead. I usually do this twice to make a loop for easier hanging. I Do the same thing at the other end when I am finished.
On your bead buying trip get beads with different size holes to act a s stoppers. This prevent beads from going over one another to maintain your pattern.
This is a very long string that I used as garland on the tree. I tried to keep to a pattern. Figure one patter for a 1 foot then repeat. For this style I like larger beads in the middle of my pattern.
I used a verity of colors but they all tie in to my tree skirt. They were different lengths, with different sizes and colors.
These are the Crimp bead the you will slide on the to string with a little left over to make a loop. Use your needle nose pliers to pinch closed the crimp tube. Have fun and Please post a link so I can see how yours turned out!
