Valentine Door Decoration,

I decided to make an alternative door decoration to the usual wreath for our door for Valentines day.
I wanted something a little different for our front door for Valentines Day. I had an old picture frame that was peeling and chipped. Got an idea for an alternative decoration.
I first removed the backing from the frame then removed the glass. I gently sanded the frame and then used some red paint I already had in my craft supplies. It's just regular acrylic paint. It took two coats to get the coverage I wanted, the grain of the wood still showed through, which I kind of liked.
I then took a trip to Michaels, (Uh, uh, fatal) where I found some paper I could use for my project and a cute little red shiny heart . Not to mention all the other stuff I got, that I didn't plan on buying, but there you go, a trip to Michaels will do that to you.

I got to work I went on the he computer and used Greetings workshop To make up some phrases I liked in the fonts I liked and printed them off.

I then took the backing board I had removed from the picture frame and started to play with the paper to see how I wanted it to look at the end. I finally decided on a look I liked ( 2 different pieces of the scrapbook paper cut to size). I had bought a sheet of chalk board paper so I cut a heart out of that. I then attached the printed phrases I liked, sort of randomly. I mod podged each piece in place on the backing board and let it dry. I then replaced the glass in the frame, after cleaning it of course!!!!! Popped the backing back in, with the attached paper pieces facing out touching the glass. I then took the little red heart, stapled it in place with the piece of attached ribbon so it hung over the glass on the outside . Voila, finito.

I liked this as I can reuse the frame for something else if I don't want to save it. Easily repainted. Came together quickly and it's personalized, so anyone could make one for a gift.
