Kitchen Cart Turned Craft Cart!

DIY Passion
by DIY Passion
I have had this kitchen cart for a long time. It was a carry over from our old condo and it doesn't fit in the kitchen in our house. I've always used it as a surface in my craft studio, but this year - I decided to commit and actually turn it into an awesome crafting station with tons of organization!
The first thing I did was hang Command Hooks from the front of the cart. Then using a Dollar Store cafe rod, I used them to hang a big roll of brown kraft paper. I like to pull it over my cart when I'm painting to protect the surface and make cleaning up easier.
Then I cut a dowel down to size so it fit across the open shelf part of the cart. I measured (loosely, no need to be exact!) some polka dot fabric from my craft stash and created a little pocket for the rod using Fabric Fusion glue. I also hemmed it using the same method just to make it look tidy. I put the dowel snugly in place in front of the open shelves.
With a scrap piece of plywood (1/4 inch is fine), I 'primed' it with some basic matte black chalk paint and then once that was dry, I gave it two coats of chalkBOARD paint. I used Command Strips to attach it to the panel front of my cart.
The last step was to use the same method as I did for the chalkboard, but with a pegboard. I painted it sea foam green and used leftover dowels to hang my planner binder and whiteboard markers! I'm so happy with how it's turned out. I use it every single day!
