Sea Shell Napkin Rings & Coastal Tablescape

4 Materials
While it’s feeling a lot like spring in Charleston already, it’s not quite time for spring decor. My go to for in between times is a coastal themed tablescape. These DIY sea shell napkin rings give a pretty finishing touch to my breakfast nook.
A couple of years ago, I repurposed some old napkin rings for a coastal tablescape in my breakfast nook. I decided to give the napkin rings a new look this year. I removed the small shells and sea glass and was left with a plain, burlap covered ring. The burlap is a roll of tape which was great for this since there was no fraying. The adhesive wasn’t very strong though, so I added a small drop of hot glue to keep it in place.
I've been using sea shells collected at Folly Beach, SC for several craft projects. I I chose to use some large shells for the makeover. I painted them using DecoArt Peaches ‘n Cream acrylic paint.
Using hot glue, I attached the shells to the napkin rings.
To bring my coastal tablescape together, I used layering. Starting with a natural straw runner, I topped that with burlap covered chargers. The dinnerware is Thomson Pottery Cape Cod. The coasters are bamboo squares that I found at Goodwill. To finish off the coastal look, I'm using a centerpiece of shells, vase filler and a candle.
I found this perfectly colored glasses at The Dollar Tree last year. You can’t beat the price and they match the dinnerware wonderfully.
I love using coastal decor throughout my home and our breakfast nook is a great spot to showcase it.  I’m enjoying the shades of teal and blue.  I used an easy accordion fold for the blue napkins.
