This pretty white farmhouse table makeover was done by Dominique from The Little White Cottage with Simplicity and Natural Wax!
Hello everyone. So I was lucky enough to be chosen to do a guest blog post with Country Chic Paint. For that to happen, they sent me some of their products to try and I had full creative freedom to do what I want. I’m a lover of white paint and I absolutely love cottage and farmhouse decor so it was a no brainer for me to choose their paint in the pretty white called ‘Simplicity’. I also tested out the natural wax (which I loved).

So I had previously refinished my parents’ old dining table (which they gifted me with when I first moved out on my own). It was previously a wooden top and I had made it all cream. I love the look of a table when it’s painted all white because I feel like it gives it that casual cottage dining room feel. This is what it looked like before.
Though I didn’t mind the colour, I found it to be a little too matchy with the hutch, because I prefer an eclectic blend of different whites and creams. Enter Country Chic Paint. I also wanted the wooden bench (which was a recent add on) to match the table. That way, my black metal chairs would stand out as a focal point.
Those who know me could tell you that this isn’t my first time refinishing furniture so it wasn’t scary or intimidating for me. But I am understand how it can be for someone who isn’t used to it. All I did was apply two coats of paint with a foam roller (and a paint brush where needed). Once that was done and the paint had cured, I distressed them for a more rustic finish with a 120 grit sand paper, going over the edges until I achieved the desired distressing.
Once that was all done and I was satisfied with it, I applied a coat of the natural wax with a dry cloth to seal the paint and distressed finish.
So as far as the paint goes, I loved it! It has virtually no smell and it goes on very smoothly with a good consistency. As an allergy sufferer, the no VOC and odourless features are the greatest but as an avid DIYer, the thickness and smooth consistency are fantastic and save a lot of headaches.
I’m happy with the end result and I feel that I achieved the look and eclectic blend of whites that I wanted against my hutch and armoire. I’m so appreciative to have have the opportunity to work with the products and look forward to my next DIY project with the rest of the paint and I’m excited to try the antiquing wax.
