Old Board Makes a Home Sweet Home Sign

Instead of discarding old boards, why not make something out of them? When a board is not great, your only choice may be to cover it up. Many materials are available but burlap is a nice fabric to give a rustic look.
Step 1: Start with a thin piece of plywood. This makes the sign light weight. This board had lots of marks on it and cuts. You could also use pallet broads.
Now for some fabric to cover the board.
Step 2: Now for some fabric to cover the board. Recently, I was at a flea market and purchased a few coffee grain sacks for $2 each.
Step 3: The front of the sack had lettering on it, but the back was plain. Perfect for my sign. You could also purchase burlap at your local fabric store.
I cut the board to remove the bad parts. The new size was 15 X 13.
Step 4: I cut the grain sack smaller than the board. I pulled threads to make a fringe all the way around.
Step 5: I used 2 inch letters for my sign and white paint. Sometimes, you have to touch up the letters once you remove them. You could always freehand your sign.
Step 6: Once I had all of the letters painted and they were dry, I hot glued the edges to my board.
