I need help with kitchen cabinet colors!

So we purchased our new to us home recently. We have already painted the entire house except for the kitchen. It is a pretty open floor plan. While sitting in the living room, you have a a view into the kitchen and dining room. The dining room and does have a wall splitting it in between that and the kitchen. The walls in the living room and dining room are Benjamin Moores, revere pewter. Before we purchased the home, they had put a beig-ish color ceramic tile throughout the entire home. I will want to EVENTUALLY change the flooring, but it's not in the budget just yet. Also, currently have black appliances that were brand new when we moved in so we don't want to replace those just yet.

So now to get to the real reason I'm posting. I need help deciding on a color for the cabinets and walls. We HATE the oak finish cabinets. We are into light clean colors. The countertops are black granite. So those won't be changed for quite some time. And the backsplash is white.

What we were THINKING so far. Just paint the walls revere pewter like the living room and dining room, and then just do the cabinets in a white with brush nickel hardware.

I will post before and after pictures of the living room and dining room to give an idea of what we are trying to blend with.

Thanks!

This is the before of the dining room.

This is the after of the dining room. (Notice how the kitchen sticks out like a sore thumb Lol)

I would consider white-washing the cabinets and painting the backsplash then choose a wall color.

Since the appliances are black, use a dark gray on the BOTTOM cabinets. Us a color farther down the color chart and you can't go wrong. Leave the upper cabinets white...the brushed nickel hardware is excellent.

Don't worry about the time floor. Check around at resale shops and auctions to find some interesting rugs...you can get fantastic deal at these places.

I look forward to seeing some "after" photos...good luck!

I would paint the cabinets white, but I love white ;) But I think it would really blend everything through nice since all your trim work, doors, etc are white. I love the main color - looks beautiful!

    How about taupe.

Paint the walls of your kitchen the same color as the rest of the house, paint the lower cabinets a dark gray (like Jim suggested) and paint the upper cabinets a really light gray that almost appears white (or white will work as well)...you want some contrast between all your grays to add some punch! I'm looking forward to seeing a finished picture of your no-longer-sore-thumb kitchen!

Paint the kitchen walls another shade on the revere pewter card. Don't be afraid of painting the cabinets. Tile the backsplash and u won't want to replace the counters I'm sure!

Revere Pewter, its a very neutral color.

We are re-doing our kitchen as well with white cabinets and white appliances. Our wall color is a beige which will bring out the beige/caramel in our new black countertops plus match our floor. It's hard to say what your floor color is but I wouldn't go with gray walls if you have beige flooring (IMHO).

    Good luck!!
