the color of your house looks red. What exactly is the color
Where I lived would help me decide. If the deep south I would go for a lighter one to reflect the heat from my attic. In the north I would pick a darker to draw some heat.
I agree with Janet! In the photo it looks like a redwood color. I would drive around your neighborhood and see what other homes have. I somewhat agree with Maryloosgriffin! Technically she would be right, but nobody really follows the concept. Up here in the Chicagoland area I see all colors of roofing. Its more of a personal choice than an environmental choice.
Go with white lighter colors last longer n it will hide ur sky lites they wil disquised n also match ur trim
I would get some samples and put them up on the roof and go with the one that looks the best. I like the one that is up there now, but if you are looking for a change, go with a tan or something on the light side.
Make it a light grey. the house is dark already.
Go light!!!!
I agree with light ( or dark) gray!
Light gray would look great!
You may want to think of where you live the hotter the lighter the color no matter what color. And also remember its the largest thing on the house too I added a slight red tint to a gray the color of our roof we are in a northern state and I have a dark blue house it works and if we change the color of the house and we will. Hope this help Teresa
I suggest you take in consideration of the fact you may one day decide you don't want the red any longer and it is certainly cheaper to replace the paint then the roof...now with that said each one to the suggestions above are excellent things to take in consideration, but remember you are the one that has to live with it. Live in hot weather you will want a light roof color, cooler color if you live in a cooler climate. Also great suggestion to check out others in the area.
light blue.
I had a new roof put on a property in Texas last spring. We went with a shade that blended with the lite colored siding, but If I'd had rich dark siding like yours I would have gone with a very dark roof. A dark colored roof looks so rich. They all come with a 30 or 40 year guarantee depending upon the price you want to pay. The roofer said with the new venting they use now the colors don't make much of a difference in attic heat buildup. Ask if there is heat retention research on the shingles you get.
Love my dark green roof! Wouldn't have any other color :)
What ever color you choose it should be architectural shingles. Those can withstand high wind from any storm.......was in Palm Coast, Florida after hurricane Mathew, every house I saw with 3 tab shingles was damaged. Architectural roofs stayed intact!
make it light. Your A/C bill will be less!
there are houses this color here but it is brick and they all have dark rich green roofs and shudders, and a bright door.
How about regular "silver" metal? Living in the Florida Gulf coast, we chose it and have been very happy with it for the past 3 years. It matches any color, reflects heat, and no worries.
We had a cedar siding and got Elk shingles that have a brownish/grayish/greenish color. They change colors according to the amount of sunlight for some odd and unknown reason. They are super nice because of that. Later we changed the siding to Certainteed cape code shingles in sage green and it still looks great with that roof. Wish I could remember the exact name of the color of shingles but check out Elk colors at your local hardware or big box store. Take samples home and go outside and 'eyeball' the color combos to pick your favorite. I would not go with metal as your house is more 'natural' so I would stick with shingles that blend with that look. Metal is too 'fake' for your style of home IMO.
I think a black shingle would look great with your current color. See if you can find a sample of Moire Black (Certainteed brand) to look at . It's not a super black shingle so it's not such a stark contrast.
You can then, in the future, paint your house any color and it would look good.
