How about using electrical pipe. Comes in 10' lengths and 1/2" tp 2" diameter. It can be painted. That is what I use, even for closet rods.

Many stores that sell drapery rods also sell extensions.

    Thanks again, Madolyn💕

IKEA had at one time (and probably still do) a curtain "rod" system using some sort of strong wire and it could span a long area.

Seemed like a really great idea and perfect solution to our problem. Was really hard to install and while people were looking at our house to buy it the whole thing just fell apart. :( maybe others had better luck than we did.

Most decorator drapery rods come in 2 pieces telescoping one into the other. Just buy as many rods as necessary to make the width you need. 24" to 48" , 48" to 72". No problem getting the width you need.

p.s. Thrift stores often have the really long ones--especially if you check the stores in rich areas. ;)

    Don't forget the proper supports.

IKEA has long rods and brackets for them. You could also use conduit. Pvc or metal depending on the weight of the curtain you want to hand. I just painted the pvc...it worked well.
