DIY Singer Sewing Table Turned Farmhouse End Table

3 Materials
Hello everyone! Today I am sharing with you all how I turned one of those old metal Singer sewing machine tables into the perfect end table for my living area! AND the best part is, I did it for $0!
Here is the before shot. I bought this for $20 off Craigslist and painted it white for a quick fix. It was too bulky and the wood was wrinkling so I decided to unscrew the top and replace it with a top that fit my space.
Notice the warped wood...not a good look for an end table. I found some old (and I mean ancient) shiplap in my basement that was nailed together, and as soon as I lay my eyes on it, I knew it was perfect for this project! I cut all three pieces of shiplap down to size (the length I wanted) and pieced them back together, using 1x2's underneath to make sure they didn't come back apart.
I stained the shiplap in a dark walnut and then did a quick layer of white chalk paint over the top (You can use regular latex paint too, I just had extra chalk paint on hand). I then sanded in the areas I wanted distressed and set the shiplap table top on top of the iron legs. WA-LA, an easy, and did I say CHEAP table fix. You don't have to use shiplap for this either, any wood you have on hand would be an easy solution with a quick cutting of the miter saw and a little stain/paint.

Why didn't you just take the small top off and add a top to fit over the whole top so you could of kept the drawers? The thin wood is what warped it got to wet. You could of peeled it off. I love the old sewing bases.
