by Yom20985858
I tried sprays, on dog and on the yard. I tried flea collars and oil tubes. THey're biting my family and my sweetie boo dog!! Help!!

THESE COME OUT OF THE BITES IF YOU SCRATCH THEM OFF. THEN THEY STOP ITCHING AND GO AWAY. OTHERWISE THEY GET HORRIBLE ALLERGIC DERMATITUS?

STEROIDS AND ANTIBIOTICS WORKED FIRST EPISODE OF THIS LAST YEAR. STEROIDS NOT WORKING ANYMORE. GONNA TRY INSECT REPELLERS? I GOT TINY BATTERY ONES. BUT THEY HANG DOWN AND GET IN HIS FOOD AND WATER. ( THE ROIDS AND TONS OF$$ SPENT ON DOCTOR VISITS AND VETS ARE A REAL BUMMER FOR FAMILY MEMBERS TOO. )PUT ON A LOT OF WEIGHT AND STILL ITCHING NOW.

ANYONE KNOW A GOOD BRAND FOR OUT IN THE YARD? I HAVE THESE IN MY HOUSE AND PATIO. THEY GET MESSED UP OUTSIDE IN WEATHER.

DOING MUCH BETTER. BUT, STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM. ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM? WE'RE IN COLORADO, SISTER IN OKLAHOMA HAS THEM TOO.

Having gone through this several years ago your problem looks like mites which are not visible to your eye.Have they best tested for that?

Demodex mites. IT is the non contagious mange. A suppressed immune system allows them to proliferate. Add Turmeric to most things you eat, I have found other than turning things yellow it doesn't change the taste much. Eggs/easy to add it.

The dog, get a vet to do a skin test. It is itchy and miserable. My dog almost was put down. I gave him Ivermectin orally over several months in increased doses up to 2 cc (he is a huge dog) and frankly that saved his life. It tastes TERRIBLE and is usually injected into pigs and such. Same med as heartworm prevention.

He had blisters all over, and inside his paw pads, making it hard to walk. The picture does not show how bad it got. The picture below shows him today. He has two bald spots that never grew back, but this is five years later and he is a happy and healthy dog.

our rabbits used to get ear mites at times, showed up as crusty plaques- mites so small the vet had us kids look at them with a microscope. olive oil or mineral is what we would smother the mites with. check w/ a vet to see if this is a viable solution for your pooch. it might at least sooth the skin.

YES. I USE NEOSPORIN OR BAG BALM. RUBBED IN A LITTLE AND THOSE STINGERS OR MOUTH PARTS POP OUT AND THE BUMPS GO AWAY. BUT SOME ARE BIG AND HARD TO GET OUT. POOR PUPS START SCRATCHING BAD. I DONT BLAME HIM. I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE. THEY ITCH TILL I SCRATCHEM OFF.

  • Dfm Dfm on Mar 06, 2017

another thought- have you set out glue traps near the pooch bed? they might catch the culprits

LATER HE HAD HARD THINGS HANGING ON HIM AND WE PUT THEM UNDER MAGNIFIER N TOOK PICS N BLEW THOSE UP. THEY ARE TEENSY FLIES WITH A DESIGN ON THEIR BACKS AND CONE NOSES WITH POKEY THINGS ON SIDES OF IT.

-HE IS NOW WEARING AA BANDANA WITH SSS SOAKED ON IT AND A LITTLE CLICKING INSECT REPELLER. WE'LL SEE WHERE WE GO FROM HERE. -THANKS FOR THE HELP!

Here's a thought.......a luke warm bath with Dawn Dish Soap. If it was good for all the wild life after the oil spill, it should be good for dogs with mites, but please check with your vet first.

We use food grade DE powder liberally in the yard and on pets. It is safe for humans. We also get Bronco spray from the feed store, which is also safe for humans. Espom salt baths have been lifesavers for the chickens, and would imagine a welcome thing for your family. That and oatmeal soaks.

The DE powder should be used regularly in the yard.

Even if you are using other methods to help your family, I hope you incorporate the DE. Not sure how price compares but Amazon delivers to your door if you've no time to get to store.

Is this what this is that is tormenting your dog and family( Milkweed bug)Heteropterans can affect humans in several ways. They are common household pests and can spoil the taste of some fruits (e.g., raspberries contaminated by stinkbugs). But more importantly, some can attack people directly and inflict painful bites as well as introduce disease-causing organisms. The injection of saliva or poison may cause allergic reactions in susceptible persons. Sometimes when they cannot find plants, phytophagous insects probe moist surfaces (e.g., perspiring skin) in search of appropriate food fluids. Transmission of trypanosomes, which cause Chagas disease in the American tropics, occurs through cone nose bugs (Reduviidae), so-called because of the shape of their head. The insect receives trypanosomes when it feeds on the blood of an infected person. The trypanosome passes part of its life cycle in the insect and again becomes infective to humans. Instead of injecting them into a new victim, however, the insect deposits trypanosomes (in its excrement) on the skin of a potential victim. The trypanosomes can enter the bloodstream only through mucous membranes or breaks in the skin (e.g., those that may result from scratching the site of the bite).

I have a friend that was having issues with various insects and bugs. They used regular Arm and Hammer Baking Soda to repel them. Now before you go the trouble of buying a case of that please allow me to suggest this. It seems you have been able to trap a few of the culprits. Take them to an exterminator. They can offer the best solutions on how to move forward.

In Philadelphia there is an exterminating business called Steves Bug off. They have a remarkable reputation for getting even the toughest jobs done to a customers satisfaction. Try sending samples to them if it is not feasible to have them visit your location.

At least they will be able to identify them so you will have a better idea how to treat the problem. It also appears you have collected eggs of the insect. That could be a deeper problem than you may see. Good luck on what seems to be a very tough issue for you.

I know my dogs issue is not the same as what you are going through. My pup had a skin problem the vet couldn't identify. Did blood work and found her to have an under active thyroid. Started meds and problem went away.

My point is, the thyroid control our body hormones and glands. The meds may help to strenghten the poor pups immune system. Allowing him to fight back.

Hope he gets better soon. Keep us posted .

Hi I’m brand new to this website but omg this is exactly what I too am going through. Did you ever find out what it was exactly? I have done so much research and almost all of my hair has fallen out….plus I’m sick in bed almost everyday and my pup is suffering! If your baby passed from organ failure this makes me consider doing a dna test for me and my pup (via Amazon)-have you ever done anything like that? Also I took a fluconazole and just bought spirullina&chollera off Amazon which seems to help! I think it is biting flys/midges too, I spray lots of off bug spray but they still persist :(

I DID FIND HE HAD THE SAME THINGS UNDER A MICROSCOPE, EVEN THO DOC SAID MINE ISN'T CONTAGIOUS. (I HAVE CHARCOT-MARIE TOOTH SYNDROME, A DEFECTIVE COLLAGEN DISEASE. ) I AM VERY CERTAIN IT HAPPENED EVERY TIME HE WENT IN THE SUN. THE SAME AS MY BREAKOUTS. I WAS TOLD IT WAS SIMILAR TO BITES OF AN ASSASIN BUG AND SYMPTOMS. BUT OUR LOCAL AGENT TOLD US THERE WERE NONE IN AMERICA. I AM TOLD THEY ARE NOW ALLOVER THE US.--2 OF THE ONLY THINGS THAT HELPED WERE BAG BALM AND REAL ALOE VERA. YOU CAN GET HUGE LEAVES AT WALMART FOR A COUPLE BUCKS. HIS SKIN AND FEET WITH SOME ANTIBIOTICS ALSO, STARTING CLEARING UP AND HE WAS LOOKING BETTER. IT FELT COOL TO PUT ON HIS SKIN I'M SURE. UNFORTUNATELY HE FELL DOWN THE STAIRS AN WAS BADLY BROKEN. TRYING TO WAIT OUTSIDE THE BATHROOM FOR ME. GOD BLESS. HOPE YOU FAIR BETTER.

I am so very sorry for everything u have been going thru. I am going thru same things & I have 6 cats..I had 7 but lost my fav furbaby this last July, he was severely anemic for some reason unknown..shortly after having to put him to sleep me & the other furbabies started getting attacked relentlessly..the bites so painful! We live in Indiana & things have eased up a tiny bit & I'm thinking it's bcuz the temperature has started to cool off(?) But idk. We ran away from home for a week to a motel at then end of October bcuz we couldn't take it anymore. I had bad "bites " on my face, neck, back. & waist. I went to a medchk while staying at the motel bcuz I ended up with a bad one on the corner of my mouth. They took a culture sample & when the results came back they said I had a skin infection & gave antibiotics..well when qe went back home itn"seemed ok" for abt a wk & then it started happening again. I went to swe my Dr & he said same thing skin injection & gave me more antibiotics. I'm no Dr but I don't think this is a skin infection as it's not going away. I did get a pic of a teeny teeny tiny fly with design on its wings (biting midge maybe?) I'm jst so depressed & can't get help from Dr or vet & they & everyone thinks I'm crazy.

ALL I CAN DO IS SEND YOU PRAYERS. THE VETS TOLD US MOSTLY JUST BULLDOGS GET THIS, SO? I HAVE HAD IT FOR A FEW YEARS NOW AND IT FLARES UP ONCE IN AWILE NOW. IT GOT NUTS AFTER WE WENT TO NEW ENGLAND FOR A MONTH. I GOT SO MANY TICKS THAT I THINK IT'S LYME DISEASE. BUT IF YOU TELL YOUR DOC, THEY TELL YOU THEY TESTED YOU FOR IT AND IT'S NOT. I CHECKED MY RECORDS AND THEY HAVEN'T TESTED ME. THEY WROTE , D.O.P. (DELUSIONS OF PARISITOSIS) ON MY HUSBANDS RECORDS AND PUT I SCRATCH MYSELF UP TO GET ATTENTION? (I GOT A USB MICROSCOPE AND CAN SEE HAIR GROWING THE WRONG WAY, SIDEWAYS IN MY SKIN. SO I THINK LYME DISEASE MESSED UP MY IMMUNE SYSTEM SOMEHOW. MY POOR BABY DOGGY DIED FEBRUARY 2019. I THINK HE CAUGHT IT FROM ME OR THE RM TICKS IN OUR YARD. )THEY NEVER FIGURED IT OUT. AFTER THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN MEDS AND VISITS. NOTHING HELPED. THE ANTIBIOTICS TORE HIM UP AND HIS LEGS BECAME DISJOINTED AND HAD KIDNEY FAILURE. -*ONE LAST VET AT THE LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTER GAVE US SOME ANTIBIOTICS THAT HELPED A LITTLE AND WE STARTED TREATING HIS SKIN WITH PURE ALOE VERA SQUEEZED FROM BIG LEAVES WE GET AT WALMART AND MIXING A TINY BIT IN HIS FOOD.HE WAS STARTING TO LOOK ALMOST NORMAL , WHEN HE FELL DOWN THE STAIRS AND BROKE THE FOOT TOO. MY HEART IS SO BROKEN... I THINK IT'S NOT SO MUCH THE FLIES ANYMORE. BUT SOME TYPE OF FUNGUS OR YEAST IN THE GRASS HERE OR THE TICK THING- SIDE NOTE. WE GOT ANOTHER DOGGIE AND WITHIN 2 WEEKS, HE STARTED HAVING NON-STOP ITCHING. HE WENT TO LIVE ON A FARM IN A MUCH DRYER AREA AND THEY SAID HE'S DOING GREAT. WE THINK THE APOQUEL WE WERE GETTING FOR MY BABY DOGGY CAUSED AN IMMUNE REACTION THAT OVERWHELMED HIM , AFTER TAKING FOR 2 YEARS. I GOT MORE PICS IF YOU WANT TO SEE THEM. I AM NOT CRAZY AND THEY ARE REALLY APPARENT. THAT BKACK STUFF IS INGROWN HAIR GROWING SIDEWAYS. 1600X MAGNIFIED.

I have had the same thing for a year.people think that I'm crazy. I've been to doctors And emergency rooms I am going to the dermatologist in a few days and I'm hoping they can find something out. They are in everything. they look like little teeny pieces of glass They're on my tongue they're in my lungs In every single part of my body people don't know what they are one doctor said they've never heard anything like this before so they just don't listen to me and think I'm crazy. I am not crazy. I suffer every night and day these things coming out of my hair going into my skin making me

1 I went and got a hand held microscope and I could see them I even have caught them and had some in jars and their multiplying. It's dermatologists could find out what they are I'm gonna take some with me it's already caught I will let you guys know. And tell them hanging there Someone's gotta figure out something soon or later. Oh yeah by the way I tried everything they don't even burn fire doesn't even kill them.

No See Ums!!! I’ve been dealing with this for about a month. After removing some soil and bad hay from the yard… these little a$$holes moved into my house. Attacking me and my son and our animals. I believe they were attacking the animals way before this though. I have tried everything I swear.

    things that kill them ..

    bleach- on contact

    peroxide- on contact

Cutter backyard spray- kills what’s you spray

house bombs- kills anything living- not all stages

flea and tick sprays - kill on contact

DE by Harris - seems to work but not fast or aggressively enough

Skin so soft by Avon- helps our skin-

vaseline- up my nose, in my ears, on bites, private parts protects those areas from being bit and maybe is a deterrent but not for very long though

lemongrass essential oils work but not for long.

    applecider vinegar/ dawn- catches some

Permethrin- I’m not sure about. Seemed to be killing them maybe I didn’t mix it right. Definitely didn’t last long.

bug sprays with deet - work for awhile.

hot water and dawn- kills on contact

i do not recommend steam cleaning.. it’s like you wake them all up. It definitely kills them and needs to be done but you should have every part of your body covered up , especially your face!

cover your face when applying any type of flea and tick to your cats also. A huge swarm of them jumped off my cat and on to my face when I applied it to the barn cat!

im ready to pack all our stuff up and move out! I swear. Watching my dogs in pain is killing me! I also went to the emergency room looking for answers and got treated like I was high!!

I had an exterminator out only to be told that what I was showing her was a gnat and once she knew what was biting me / she could treat the house!

i have a call in to orkin.. they are my last hope. These things lay eggs everywhere!! There is no way you can keep up with them. There is not one place I can go to be free from getting bit!! They are in the vehicles!! I take them with me. I’m not sure how much more I can take!

  • Mogie Mogie on Apr 03, 2023

We had a problem with mites several years ago and they came from my chickens! They are so small you can't see them but you can feel when they bite you. Many good dustings with DE solved the problem. And still use that to this day.

Hey funny thing I had a problem similar to this not sure still dealing with now but almost better I bought a house as is boy oh boy it had bed bugs got rid of those severe flea infestation got rid of those something was still biting me and I mean I must have bought every product on the market I found some relief buying the Bissell sanitizer which has 212° of steam and Bedlam plus cuz I couldn't see what was biting me and I did the couches which it shoots out steam so it's not going to catch anything on fire it shoots out steam at 212° and you can get corners cupboards places you can't see places you can't get into the steam camp now I know the machine said do not add anything just water me myself I added pesticide and I still feel things crawling on me and that could just be my mind because I was dealing with this for 4 years but I think the last thing this house has is I've caught a few is lice but" VOILA "it kills them too and the best part about it IS ONLY $36.99 AT WALMART.

  • I would take the dog to the vet and identify the bugs. Then call an exterminator to treat your house.
