Half Table

Initially I searched for a small round end table, nightstand, side table in all the usual places (Goodwill, Craig's list, garage sales). I planned on cutting it in half for this project. I couldn't find the right size so as we started to accumulate scraps of wood from our basement project, I decided to build my own. This is the result. It's not perfect, but it's good enough for my kitchen!
I used one 10ft 2"x2" for the legs and 1/2" plywood for the top and shelf.  I used 1/8" plywood that I soaked overnight and then steamed in the microwave (easy way to soften in order to bend) for the 2 front pieces.  I used scrap angle molding cut into 1" pieces to secure the front rounded pieces.  A base coat of  white eggshell interior paint was applied.
I used the idea from another post for the filigree.  I made a pattern of the design and transferred it to the table using carbon paper.  I then traced the design with hot glue, adhering it directly to the table.   I stressed the edges with sand paper so that some of the wood came through.  I then used a dark brown (coffee bean color) glaze and gave the whole thing a vintage look.
I'm happy with the results and even more happy to have a table that is exactly the size this space needed.

I think you did a great job! I've been looking for a small industrial type table for my entryway, but haven't found anything that I liked that was the right size. Now you've inspired me to give it a try!
