Family Travel Map Wall Art Made From a Thrifty Find!

3 Materials
Our family LOVES to travel and go on adventures both BIG and small... What better way to remember where we've been and plot out where we want to go!! This family travel map/wall art project is made from an up-cycled thrift store frame... For just a few dollars, you can make your very own travel map!!

I picked up this amazing frame on 50% off day at our local thrift store!! How great is that...a 50% off day at the thrift store... already great prices get even better!! I removed the original print from inside and carefully cleaned the glass.

This is a gorgeous map... I love it, it reminds me of the colorful maps that hung on the walls of my elementary school classrooms... It's vintage looking, but actually brand new. I purchased it from one of my favorite shops in Columbus, Ohio... all the details are in my blog, located in the link below. If you want one of these beauties too...great news...they ship...and they are pretty inexpensive.

Any map will do... however, I loved the colors and the vintage feel of this one.

I decided on these brass, star-shaped brads to use as markers for our travels.

I took the map and the frame and had a matte cut to fit. This is close up...

I asked the worker cutting the matte to leave the back open so I could access the map. We need to be able to add to our map as we go on new adventures.

The back was left open...I had the map mounted onto a piece foam board to keep everything snug while hanging on the wall. They can cut a matte and get your map secured to a piece of foam board...all at the frame shop... my source is listed below. (Use your weekly coupon too)

Now all that's left to do is mark our travels.

The kids LOVED this part. Using wire cutters, I snipped the stem of the brad to make it smaller... Using light pressure, the kids poked the star-shaped brads into the cities and towns we have visited. The stars stayed in place well, sinking into the map and foam board firmly...if yours are loose, add a dot of glue to the brad before inserting it into the map.

Before long we had a beautiful piece of wall art and a visual history of our vacations.

Who knows where we will head off to next... wherever we go...We will be ready to leave a mark on our family travel map.

I want to get compensation from American Airlines for the inconvenience and delays I experienced during my recent flight from New York to Los Angeles. The flight was scheduled to depart at 2:00 PM, but it was delayed by over three hours due to technical issues with the aircraft. This delay not only disrupted my travel plans but also caused me to miss an important business meeting in Los Angeles. Additionally, the airline's customer service was unresponsive and unhelpful throughout the ordeal, leaving me frustrated and dissatisfied with their handling of the situation. Therefore, I believe it is only fair to request compensation for the time and money I lost as a result of American Airlines' poor service.
