Shabby Chic Lamp Post Redo

My mother gave me this cute little lamp post awhile ago. She had had it for quite a few years before that. It fits well into primitive country decor but that's not the look I'm going for in my house. I lived with it awhile, and then suddenly got the idea to paint it. I don't know why it took me so long!

As you can see it had a reddish/black paint job. And an old candle that didn't even work with a hideous yellowed cord.

I just stripped the thing bare. I could not get the little black candle part off no matter how hard I tried, though.

I cleaned it up and then started painting.

I used some white spray paint and then needed the white craft paint to touch up some of the spots where the spray paint wasn't covering. When it was dry I roughed it up a little bit with my sanding block.

I added a boxwood garland that I purchased at Michaels (with a coupon of course!) and added string lights to the whole thing. I replaced the old candle with a candle I had around the house. I will never light it, it's just for looks.

You can see a little at the top where I distressed it on the edges and the little post sticking out. I didn't want to do too much, just enough to make it look a little used.

I love how it turned out!

I love anything redone to give it new life. This was really a good idea!

Very cute. Now try paintInge that cord and plug white or the colour of the wall. :-)

Thanks. I actually moved it so you can't see the cord or outlet or plug. That was an awkward location.
