I think that is a matter of your preference.

personal preference, however I caution you on the motorized part. My sister spent 8 thousand dollars on motorized h.d. shades. nothing but problems. batteries constantly having to be changed and it takes a lot of double A's think 8 per unit. They go up or down half way and stop. Rep has been to her house multiple times, h.d of no help. Beware!

I think pleated shades allow more light into the room giving your living room a cozier, warmer atmosphere. But whatever you choose will be "you" so it'll be great

I prefer wooden blinds. I put these in my dining room. Really looks nice. Plan on doing my living room next. :)

Here's a great website that will give you ideas: https://www1.americanblinds.com

  • Depends on what look you are going for and your lifestyle. I have lots of pets, so I will not have anything I can't wash frequently. Plus it is dusty where I live and dusting blinds constantly is not my idea of fun times. 😎 Maybe something to consider?

I added a heavy black rod across the whole window with large scrolled finials on the ends with heavy black brackets to hold it. The found the perfect for me panels of curtain. They are light creamed coffe background with lines vertical in different widths in colours of teal, dark chocolate and deep dark sand or tericotta colour. The panels are slim, I put one at each end. I rarely need to close them as they are coordinated with my awnings. I Sometimes tie back one where there is a window that opens. With a squiggly large wire type tie back with balls on the end in copper. Many colours to choose from. Walmart or a fabric store can't remember about 6$ for one. You just twist it around curtain so it bunches thin, no need to affiz anything to the wall with screws. The curtains move smoothly across the rod as they held on rod with tab tops affixed to top

( purchased like this) grommet style tops work well too.

i wish now that I had bought a third panel for in the middle. They no longer had them in stock at home sence store, they were inexpensive I think perhaps 18$ a panel. I added turquoise designed large couch cushions, reversible with brown diamond shape. The turquoise in the curtain really pops out. I thinking of painting this wall and/or adjoining wall in the terracotta colour, and perhaps painting my brick fireplace as well. It's painted a med coloured like buckshot same as the the walls, then I sponged on different accent colours, perhaps I should add the Terri colour to the fireplace too! Giving myself lots of ideas and work by adding a suggestion to you HaAha.
