My New Years Eve

...with window treatments! I just spent the last few hours sewing curtains for my fireplace room and dining room and I think they turned out great! I am terrible at taking progress pictures so I apologize for that.First I had some really long, floor length, curtains that I've been using in the office for quite some time. I never really liked them because they were long (they had covered a HUGE sliding glass door at an old house), but I used them because that is what I had. I wanted simple mini blinds in the office, easy, clean, private.Fortunately, our dining room window and the blinds that came with it, fit the office window perfectly. So after hosing them off in the shower, they got a hanging in the office.Then I took my really long panels, and I cut them to the new length that I wanted, and hemmed the body. Easy. I loved the tabs on the top so I just used the same curtain rod and moved them over to the dining room window.
Then I took the remaining fabric of two panels and sewed a four inch area at the top for the rod. Once they were hung I noticed on was longer than the other. That always happens when I measure. If I just "eyeball" it, it always turns out better! Instead of resewing, I just pinned (shhh, you can't even tell!)
Then I took some two sided, wired-edged ribbon and I looped it over the center of each panel. I took smaller pieces of ribbon and fashioned bows and just pinned them at the bottom. Now I have my own version of a roman shade, and some character to my bare windows!
