Washi Tape Doorway

Get ready for another indecisive, temporary, renter friendly option! If you want to add a bit of pizzazz to a doorway, but don't want to take the time to paint look no further! How about using washi tape to make a fun striped entrance? That's right! A removable and temporary pop of customizable color without the mess or permanency of paint! Pick washi paint in the colors of your choice and get ready to make a fun and colorful entry way in minutes!
-Washi Tape (in colors of your choice)
-X-Acto Knife
-Scissors (may not need)
STEP 1: Start at the base of your doorway and place a piece of tape starting at the edge and working your way to the other edge making sure to keep it an even stripe.
STEP 2: Cut away the excess with an X-Acto knife.
STEP 3: You can find wider tape if you want thicker stripes, but sometimes it can be harder to find. If you want to make a wide stripe you can place two strips together carefully making sure no seam shows through.
STEP 4: Measure up the wall from your first stripe and place your next stripe as far or as close as you wish. Make sure to use a ruler to ensure the stripe is placed evenly.
STEP 5: Continue all the way around the doorway in the pattern and variety of your choice. Be sure to press your tape firmly against the wall as you go.
*You can make your stripes with a variety of space between them as I did. I made sure to measure the same distance between certain colors within the pattern, but kept a variety between them if that makes sense.
Here is a before and after of the doorway. It certainly adds a touch of fun!
Here is another before/after angle
I think the greatest thing about this is it is super cheap, quick and customizable.
You could even change it the moment you finish to another color if you don't like the results. I think even if you don't rent this is a great way to alter your space.
Whenever you are ready to remove the tape simply peel it away.
