QUICK AND EASY NO SEW PLACEMATS

4 Materials
I decided to make my own no sew placemats. They’re super easy and only take a few minutes to make, so even if you’ve got no time to craft, you might could still squeeze these in!

First cut your felt to 12×18 inches per placemat and one 12 inch piece of studded trim per placemat

Cut each of your pieces of trim in half, so you have two rows of two studs. You’ll use one for each side of the placemat.

Use the marking chalk to mark a line 3/4 of an inch from the edge, then 1/4 an inch past that one. so from the edge to the second line will be 1 inch. Do it on each side of the placemat. (PS – if you make a mistake, you can rub the felt and the chalk comes right off.)

Using hot glue, run a line down the line and glue down the trim. Only do a few inches at a time or the glue will cool too quickly. And be sure to pat the trim, not rub it or it will make a big mess. Think oozing up through the cracks – not good.

When the strips are down on both sides, your no sew placemats are done!

I love it...so simple yet so elegant. Which craft store did you get the trim? Or did you get it on Amazon? I was just at Hobby Lobby and found only a single row of studs, tried Joanne's and couldn't find any, and Michael's doesn't have a huge selection of ribbon except at Christmas time.

Very nice. Wouldn't washing them also destroy them? Felt shrinks by 80% when washed and will pucker if liquid is spilled due to the nature of the fabric. Perhaps another fabric would work better. You can also purchase vinyl products or oil cloth at a fabric store and water isn't detrimental to those types of materials.
