Tablet/Kindle Stand

Years ago I asked my Dad, a retired contractor, to make me a small wooden toolbox desk organizer for work. I worked in a profession with builders and contractors and thought it would be a great conversation piece. I revamped for a tablet/Kindle stand and it works great for the items I need when using my Kindle.

Did not have new bottom extension with lip prior to revamp. Notice holes drilled into sides for pens, nail file and now a stylus. Interior piece of wood created separate compartment for note pad (rear) and compartment for miscellaneous items (In my case, napkins). Cut a sticky felt pad and add to bottom of holder to avoid scratching and ease of movement.

Works good on lap!

Note homemade stylus in pen slot.

Rear of holder shows wooden dowel for pick-up and support.

Stylus

Stylus was made from pencil, aluminum foil, scotch tape and fine steel wool. Cut of eraser end of pencil and form small piece of steel wool over that end. Have small piece of scotch tape ready when forming and wrapping about 1" width of aluminum foil around end portion of steel wool and pencil. Tape tightly around bottom portion of steel wool and aluminum, and tape bottom portion of aluminum steel around pencil. I also, cut a thin piece of tape to adhere down the seam of the aluminum foil.

Have fun thinking about making something like this and hope it inspires.
