String Art Vase With Faux Flowers

4 Materials
String art is still one of my favorite DIY wall decor ideas and I have been seeing many string art projects for mason jars with faux flowers. I wanted something with a little more volume and color, so I decided on a vase instead.
This is a very easy project that can be done in a few hours (the longest step is waiting for the stain to dry! icon )

All you need is a wood board, stain, hammer, nails, faux flowers, and some embroidery string.

Here are some abbreviated instructions, for full details and pictures, please visit my blog at the link below.

First, cut and stain your board.

Next, find a picture or clip art of the vase you would like to use and print it.
Hammer the nails into the board to trace the outline of the vase. Nails should be about 1/2" apart. Continue until entire vase is traced.
Next, tie the embroidery string in a knot around one of the corner nails. Begin wrapping the string around the nail and move back and forth across the vase, wrapping the sting completely around each nail at least once as you go. Continue until the vase is filled in with a pattern you like. I first just did a horizontal pattern, I then went back over with a diagonal pattern so the vase had more volume.
I wanted to add some sort of design with a pop of color in the middle of the vase, so I printed out the word "love" in a nice font, and then hammered in nails to trace the word.
Next, I removed the paper and used dark blue embroidery string to wrap around the nails spelling out the word "love".
I added my $3.00 flowers from Walmart and Ta-Da! I now have a beautiful piece of artwork to pretty-up one of my walls. Super easy and quick project!
