DIY Wood Wall Art With Easy Image Transfer

These beautiful wooden wall art pieces take less than one hour to make. You don't have to be an artist to make them, check out how fun and easy to transfer image to wood! All you need is a home inkjet printer, some wood, and an item in your kitchen.
This simple technique also works great to transfer letters, stamps, and other motifs.
This method is just as simple, yet different from the packing tape image transfer, which you can check out the tutorial here.
Step 1: Cut wood and sand edges. For this project we cut 1"x8" common pine board into 8"x8" pieces.
Step 2: Print image on wax paper. Wax paper can jam the printer, but there is a trick to prevent that! See more at the end!
Step 3: Transfer image to wood.Gently moisten the wood surface with a damp rag. Place the design onto the wood surface, try not to shift it once the paper touches the wood. Hold it down and use a soft sponge or rag to rub the wax paper like you would make a print.
You will be delighted to see how beautifully the image got transferred onto the wood!
I used a homemade furniture wax to give these pieces extra protection and to enhance the richness of the colors. Recipe at the end!
Add saw tooth hangers for hanging. Now you have some unique wall art : botanical prints combined with the natural beauty of wood!

I'm shopping for a good color printer. What kind did you use to get such a rich color print? Did you just set it on color print or photo, and what is the paper setting for wax paper? When I do buy a printer ( like yesterday!! need it asap) I want to be able to see this kind of print....Thanks

So very pretty! Wonder if our grandma's knew about this handy trick with wax paper? I know my grandma used wax paper to put inside her coffee tins to protect her home made cookies! Thanks for the memory and your beautiful idea! :)
