When the shrubs are small, wrap them in chicken wire to prevent rabbits from getting close. Once the plants grow large enough, they'll be too big for rabbits to destroy. I had the same problem years ago and this worked.

Try deterring them with strong odors that they do not like, such as garlic, lavender and mint.

LOL! Or get a couple of cats to roam your yard. But if you let them into your house, make sure there's nothing in their mouth first. :-) Cat people know exactly what I'm talking about.

Believe it or not, those sonic pest-control things actually work on rabbits. Buy a few of the solar-powered ones and position them in the garden so any movement near the plant(s) you're trying to protect sets them off (you won't hear them, but they have an indicator light to tell you). I was amazed how well they worked in my veggie garden -- and anything that can keep bunnies off of veggies is a miracle!

oh yah.. one of my kitties brought brought me a present at 2 am ....have you ever been ran over by a mouse? seriousness tho- having raised rabbits as a 4 h project- those critters can have a litter every 4 to 6 weeks. litters vary between 2 to 8 kits occasional a litter of 10 or 12. they will chew through wire, wood, dry wall. their teeth grow continuously so they will chew to keep them shorter.

many communities have a trap and release program. you put a deposit down on a live trap system, get instructions on how to bait and set the trap, and where to relocate the rabbit squirrel, rat, other problem animal. you get the deposit back when you return the trap. this method does not require a trappers license.

if you have your own trap, you will need a licenses for it.

I know it sounds gross, but urine works like a charm! Every Spring I have my husband pee in a hospital urinal jar. I then take it outside, and pour around the edges of my gardens. The bunnies don't like the smell and they won't cross the line, but they can still play in the yard, and they don't mess with any of my new perennial shoots. The other thing that you can take is red pepper (the really hot stuff) powder, and mix it with water and spray it on your plants. A bit time consuming, and you have to reapply after it rains every time, but that also does the trick. Good luck!
