I'm a big fan of boxes in boxes. When everything has aset place, then you're less likely to leave something "just for now". You'll be moved to put it away and avoid clutter build up. Good luck!

Hmm. Good idea. Now if I could just persuade my husband to put things away, it would be great!

  • First, LUCKY YOU! May I come join you? 😎Like Hillela, I love boxes of any kind. Ah the husband thing, I get it. If it wouldn't pose a problem, just ask him to help you tidy up a bit, like 10 minutes of his time. If not, just sit, stare and think, (a glass of wine never hurt either), - see what might make your life easier and try and work with what you have, or go out and buy boxes or whatever you think will work in your space. Good luck and have fun!

Thank you everybody for your ideas and comments. I will certainly try the boxes. We also have some cupboards out in the awning, a chest of drawers and a fabric temporary wardrobe for my husband's clothes. (I get the one inside the caravan!)

Inquire "RV storage" on Pinterest: there are gobs of helpful info. there. ("RV" in the U.S. stands for recreation vehicle/trailer.)

my camper aka caravan is about 40 sq ft all told. usually it's just 2 of us and fishing poles. this little camper has bunk beds-great for my mom and i-(girls nights out) and a double bed. there is storage under the bottom bunk, under the dinning table benches, over head cabinets and 2 closets. 4 adults sleep comfortably. less needed items are stored in the tow vehicle.

Ah. You have a tow vehicle.. do you mean a car or is it some kindof trailer?

it's tahoe..more of a truck than a car. bit bigger engine than a car, doesn't know there is any thing behind it being towed.

used to take vacations w/ friends, 4 of us splitting the costs of gas etc. that was in a bus sized camper rig, with slide outs. the trick is to be flexible with space, and only bring what can be used for dual purposes. soft sided squish-able luggage helps.

what type of clutter is collecting? books, magazines, dvds? potted plants? chairs?

my tow vehicle is a Chevy Tahoe.... doesn't know that the camper is towed behind it. lesser needed items are usually for maintenance, tire changing equipment, solar panel to charge the battery. some cleaning supplies. we used to do a lot of tent camping, and eventually there were areas that no tents were allowed. can you set up a small tent as a "garage" for the items you are collecting? what types of things are you calling clutter?

my truck pulls my camper....saves a bit on the gas bill that way. Park the "house"... go site seeing in the truck.
