Raise the headboard higher (if possible). Untuck the comforter to be meet the top of the bedskirt.

Would you consider also changing the headboard in general? I think that you could make something even more elegant with wood.

If you want modern, I would go with a wood look flooring--real, vinyl, or laminate In a dark color or in a beach gray. Paint your night stands charcoal gray and purchas some cool drawer pulls. Paint the walls a light gray-blue color. Just my opinion 😉

Maybe a sweet saying above the headboard in either a wall print of vinyl or on a board. Like "always kiss me goodnight" . use pictures of you and him I have some of us from about 3-4 years old and then high school yearbook pics. What do you enjoy together? I think some flowing gauzy curtains on each side of the window to the floor would look breezy and go a size larger than the bed with your comforter /duvet. I love your large mirror and it seems to be the star of the room. But you two should be. Candles on the night stand would be wonderful. If you want a romantic room remove the tv. And pump up a beach theme in light blues and tan .

I wish you could cover that cooler/heater device on the wall maybe with a wicker basket or some open fencing. Make a box around it for breathing room so it can still operate but it is disguised. Another idea is turning your room into a favorite destination whether you have been there or not. Make it your dream room.

Maybe a nice flowy beadspread and add some pretty decorative pillows. I like your headboard! See photo for inspiration. Paint your nightstand and add some cute lamps? If you have room on the left for another nightstand of some sort, that would be nice and put a pair of lamps up. Glass lamps would be romantic!

I would also paint the walls a softer color. Possibly light gray. Good luck!

Hilary, also, some pretty flowy white curtains would help with some romance! (these are from Overstock)

Stencil the wall behind the bed.

If it were me, I'd replace the carpet with thick plush carpet in a neutral color - off white or light beige. I'd paint the walls Agreeable Gray or other light to medium gray color. You can then choose a beautiful comforter set in all white, with gray sheets or find a nice geometric pattern with gray and white. Coordinate with pretty pillows and your bed will look fantastic. Add grommet curtain panels at your window (patterned panels if you choose a solid white comforter OR use a solid color if you purchase a patterned comforter).

I agree that if you can raise the headboard a bit, that would be great, but if not, it's OK where it's at.

Paint your bedside table grey or white with a brown top. Add another one on the other side and purchase lamps with a nice shade - a drum shape in a nice weave pattern.

Add a series of 3 tall photos above your bed to finish the look.
