Easy DIY Upholstered Headboard! I Had to Try It Out!!

I always dreamt of having a headboard in my master bedroom.
I felt it looked bare without one, but just never got around to do anything about it.
I saw many tutorials of DIYing upholstered headboards, and I just had to try it out!
before and after.
my bed is 70 Inches wide, I couldn't buy the right size wood I needed and carry it home, so instead I bought 4 pieces of wood and put them together.
Here it is, all together.
Then I measures the distance I wanted between the buttons and marked them with a pen (6 inches appart)
Then I drilled holes according to the markings.
And laid the foam over the top of the wood, leaving extra foam at the edges so I could fold it over to the back of the board.
and stapled it to the wood from the back.
I laid the faux leather over the foam and staipled it in the back.
(I chose to use faux leather since it easy to clean)
I had someone cover buttons with the matching fabric to the leather I bought.
I used scissors to poke a hole first since the leather was thick and was to hard to do it directly with the needle.
I pulled the needle through the leather and sewed on the button.
then in the back, I had to tie it with a piece of fabric so that the thread had on what to hold.
here is the back of the board after the buttons are all tied up.

I made my own king sized headboard out of a youth sized box spring. I thread pipecleaners through cheap plastic buttons and then covered them with the same fabric as the headboard by gathering & thread-tying. I was then able to pull the pipecleaners through a small hole to the back and stapled them to secure.

When attaching the buttons did you go through the faux leather, foam. and wood in front and the foam and faux leather in back, too..? Did you make a hole in the wood with your scissors?
