Farmhouse Makeover for a Buffet/Console

If you are someone whole loves farmhouse style decor, but don't want to buy new furniture, here's a way to give a farmhouse look to any type of buffet, console, or anything with cabinets.
I had originally put mirrors in the doors, but both ended up breaking so I wanted something more sturdy for a house with kids.
If your furniture already had regular cupboards, you can skip this part. If it's not a flat surface and you want to replace the door, inspect your furniture and figure out how to remove the middle of the door. Some will just pop right out, others may need a saw.
I picked up some hardboard from Lowe's and had them cut it down to the sizes I needed. The boards start out as 4'x8' so you can get a lot of pieces out of it, so plan ahead for any projects you could use this for. To attach the hardboard, you can use mirror clips. Just drill a hole, then screw into place. I used 6 clips for each board.
Cut 1x2s to fit the diagonal. Sand and glue into place with Liquid Nails, Gorilla Glue, or anything similar.
Measure, cut and sand 2 more pieces to make an "X" shape.
Remove hardware and sand the entire thing. Apply 1-2 coats of primer, depending on how dark the furniture is. Use a paint brush to put paint on, then fell smooth with a 5" foam roller.

Apply 2-3 coats of paint using the paint brush and 5" foam roller. This color is "Creamy" by Sherwin Williams in satin.
You can either distress using sandpaper on the corners and edges or use 2-3 protective coats using the product of your choice. Because it's easy, I used Rust-oleum Stain Clean Enamel on this.

Looks great! The hardware kind of reminds me of the rings on a horse bit. Very cool and speaks to the farm look!

What a great makeover you gave this piece! I love to see the transformation of old, beat up, "time for Goodwill" furniture into fabulous, show stopping, repurposed pieces. A lot of times the piece ends of looking better than it did new! I give you ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐! Thanks for sharing!
