DIY Coca-Cola Planter

We had rescued this old side from an antique Coca-Cola cooler from the scrap yard.
It has been hanging out on the farm for some time just waiting for the right project.
Now...what to do with it!
I decided to use some gorgeous heart pine flooring from an old country store that my hubby cut into four equal parts.
I marked two lines to determine how much of an angle I wanted to cut the top board.
Here you can see I "dry fit" the boards in place prior to nailing them down to make sure I liked the look.
I found another board that I cut in two for the cross beams.
To enclose the planter and add to its' rustic charm I fastened some old galvanized tin to the back of the planter.
I added one shelf on each side and secured them into place with black cabinet screws to minimize their profile on the front of the planter.
I had my husband help me with the Coca-Cola sign.
He cut the sign in half and worked part of it over the top of the planter.
The pliers held the sign in place while he screwed it down.
Old Coca-Cola bottles and bottle opener finishes off the flower planter.
