Updating an UGLY Fireplace

Stunning Fireplace Makeover | Before-and-After

Your fireplace should be without question, the focal point of your room. People should walk into your room and say “wow” because it looks stunning.
Does Your Fireplace Look Stunning?
Or is it dated? Does it have old stone or brick? Don’t worry if you have a dated or boring fireplace. With a little bit alot of hard work you can transform your fireplace into something that you are really proud of and that your guests will say “wow”.
We moved into a newer home several months ago and inherited this ugly ornate fireplace. It didn’t suit our style and it certainly didn’t suit the style of the home. It was one of the first renovations that we tackled.

How ugly is this? Not the stunning centre piece that you want for your fireplace. We moved into this home about a year ago and the style of the former owner is not our style. So slowly we are transforming it over.

First things first! The "doo-dad" has got to go. With much elbow grease, the "doo-dad" finally came off but not without a fight.

Filling in the area where the "doo-dad" left its mark. (lol)

Painting over the dated brass fireplace screen with Rustoleum's high heat paint. I used a foam brush to avoid brush stroke marks. It took about 3 coats of paint.

Painted the dated faux paint mantel with white paint. You can see the dramatic difference that the white paint makes.

Here's the before again....
And here is the final result. It was alot of work but definitely worth it! Now that's a first impression I want to make!!!
