Crafternoon Easter Decor ~ My Easter Happy

So with both of my kids grown and moved out of the house I was left with the sad realization that I had no one to dye Easter eggs with anymore :( . (Yes, we dyed them every year, even into their adulthood, lol)
Since the kids aren't around to dye eggs, well they surely wouldn't come around to eat a bunch of boiled eggs! And that's when the Egg Gods smiled down on me and I came across some cardboard eggs at the grocery store all wrapped up to look like a dozen real eggs! I swooped down on them like a momma bird and brought them home to let the decorating begin!!
I used some Americana Chalk Paint in Blue, Yellow, Coral, and Gray and painted the eggs. And then I took some faux boxwood greenery and made a small wreath from it. I have a beautiful vintage floral bucket that I filled halfway with plastic grocery bags for filling and topped it with Spanish moss, then placed the wreath on top of the bucket around the rim and put the eggs in. I finished it by tying a white wire filled ribbon around the handle of the bucket.
Although this was not quite as much fun as decorating eggs with my kiddos, I enjoyed creating something beautiful for my home and in my own way the tradition continues!!

Love it! So difficult to change our celebrations after the children are grown, isn't it. Happy Easter.

Thank you~it is hard, but I think traditions must go on! I have to continue so when my grandson is old enough to participate he can step in where his mom stepped out, lol! I CANNOT wait for that day! Happy Easter to you!

  • Beautiful! I still decorate a dozen eggs (real and faux) just to have spring decor even though I live alone. You did a great job! Thanks for sharing! 🐤

I know the empty nest syndrome well, your basket is beautiful! They also have wooden eggs and plaster eggs at craft stores if you ever want to do them again. I loved coloring eggs with my kids and we colored until they both left home too so I know how you feel. Living alone things are not the same. Happy Easter and God Bless.

I think we are all in the same boat.... .........kids make a home!! Leaving the nest is a bummer. I had a hard time havin' 4 sons. On there own, move away , make their own traditions and busy, busy. We do the best we can. Happy Easter to ALL!!

It is an adjustment for sure! I can say that although my husband and I relocated several years ago (which is unheard of for us, lol), leaving our home state, both of our kids followed and are now settled here as well. I thank God every day for that!! Happy Easter to you as well!
