Our crazy long walkway!

We own a townhome which has a long walkway to the front door. On the right is a grass slope which takes a magician to mow. On the left, we share a flat top of grass with our neighbor -but since he replaced his slope of grass (which came into his driveway with a retaining wall) there is no differentiation between what now is his flowerbead and maybe a foot or so of our grass! Sounds confusing, but here's a picture. By the way, the board is our neighbor's, this was his property dividing line!? 😬. H E L P !!! TY, Jo
I'd ask if you could remove the boards. Then using the same type of brick line the edge of your sidewalk with them. You could then use that area as he is and plant flowers etc. there and mulch it. It would end the problem of mowing that area and be a nice border for your sidewalk.
First you would need to find where the property line is between you and your neighbor and do what Jeffery says. On the slope of grass next to your driveway you could remove the grass and create a raised bed garden with landscape blocks level with your walk. Plant some low maintenance plants/bushes and no more mowing.
Take out grass put in barberry bushes .
You could stencil your sidewalk to your liking.

Ditto on the strip with the board... just go with the flow and plant the same thing on your side. For the other side something like a mondo grass (no mow) would look nice. if you go with other kinds of plants make sure they are small scale, plant all the same. Keep it simple :)
If that area beside his retaining wall/flower bed gets a lot of shade, it would be a perfect place to plant hostas---and there are some hostas that actually like sunshine if you can find them in your area---they would eventually hide that hideous board if he doesn't want it removed. If you do that on that side, you could line the other side with some brick to add a touch of color. There is also colors to stain concrete if you want it to look a bit different.
