No fancy pots or grow lights are needed to start seeds indoors. Plan ahead when you are cracking your eggs. Try to crack toward the pointy end, allowing for a bigger planting area.
Start by rinsing out the shells, then let air dry.
Use a pin or needle to pierce the bottom of the shell. This creates a drainage hole.

Use a pin or needle to poke a hole in the bottom of the shell. This creates a drainage hole.
Fill the shells with seed starting mix, a special mixture to get your seeds started right.
Gently put two or three seeds in each egg shell, then barely cover the seeds with soil. Use a spray bottle to water the seeds. Frequently check the soil, watering as needed. The soil should stay moist, but not saturated. Place the seeds in an egg carton in a sunny window.
You can thin out the plants if needed and/or plant into larger containers as they grow. When you are ready to transplant the plants into the ground, crush the egg shell and put it in the ground along with the plant. The shell adds calcium.
You can start any seeds that you want - vegetable, fruit, flowers. Check the seed package for germination times. Happy Planting!icon
