Make this modern plant stand for your trendy plants in a few easy steps.
If your like me.. struggling to keep your kittens away from your plants then this is a great solution. Keeping the plants off the ground definitely helps keep them alive.icon So to make the plant stand I used a recycled bucket.. Poured in 1/4 bucket water and added concrete mix. This tripled in size so be careful when pouring in the water you don't want to much water. Once mixed I marked (with a sharpie) inside my clean bucket how thick I wanted the slab and poured the concrete into the bucket... Then I stuck in three even length dowels.
Before cured fully I chipped the edges with a chipping tool to give it the raw edge looking I was going for... (this will not work if it's fully cured)
Then I stained the legs with one coat in the Special Walnut Stain color.
Tapered them down by sanding the bottoms of the legs.
Once all that was complete I taped of the legs leaving 5 inches on the bottom and spray painted with primer and white paint.
And it turned out marvelous. Simple but trendy..LOVE IT..icon

Above comment is relevant - how deep do you insert the dowels, and get them the correct angle and length? Do you measure, or eyeball??

You stated you poured in 1/4 bucket water. Then you poured in concrete.. But you did not tell how much concrete........is it 1 cup or 2 or 3 cups or do you just dump in a little at a time till you get the right consistency?

Hi Lily, Great idea to chip the edge of the cement. Thank you for sharing your idea. I have one question please. How did you get the stool out of the bucket ? Did you spray the inside first with cooking spray or did it just slide out? Thank you for taking the time to answer.
