After a hard day making things who does not enjoy a cold beverage?

Well its not time for one yet, first you need to make your own bottle opener.

You can really use any piece of wood you want for this. A rustic old piece would look great. What I used was a bit of old scaffold board. I ripped it down to the site I wanted.

To make the shape a little more interesting I marked out a angled taper at the top.
Then I cut the angle using the bandsaw.
I found a drill bit that was a little larger than a bottle top. I drilled a hole at a angle so that the cap will fall out of the hole.

I then drilled another hole slightly overlapping the first one. This hole only needs to be drilled as deep as a washer.

In the centre of the shallow hole another hole needs to be drilled all the way through to receive a bolt.

The wood can ten be flipped over and a larger hole drilled to recess a nut.

It gets a quick sand down before installing the hardware.

The washer, nut and bolt can now be put in place.

There now is a way to open bottles but there need to be a way to catch the caps.

So I cut a piece of wood to act as a shelf.

The shelf then got screwed onto the bottom.

To catch the bottle caps I wanted to make a cage out of some wire mesh. I got a roll of mesh from the garden centre and cut it out using some snips.

After cutting it the edge was a little sharp. I bent the edge over using the vice and then flattened it with a hammer.

The cage gets folded around the bottle opener and secured with a few screws.
One last thing was to install a brass plate to hang it to the wall.
Thats it all done. Please watch my video for more information. If you enjoyed it please subscribe to my YouTube channel for a new project every week.

Love the idea. I think I will try and make one for the men in my life.

This can and should be done well if you want to have fun or have nothing to do at home. Suppose you want to pass the time somehow. In that case, I think this detailed guide about creating an unusual beer opener will be useful to you. In general, I prefer not to think about such trifles. If I want to drink beer, I take my cheapest bottle opener and open my favorite drink. Here's another interesting question: how much alcohol is in beer and how to brew beer properly? It's great there's a lot of info on the Internet.
