I have a small house but would like to add a craft area .

I have two sewing machines that I do not use very often because it is a pain to get them out and use them on the dinning room table and put everything away so that we can eat lunch or supper.

An armoire type desk would give you plenty of room to store crafting and sewing machines and can be closed to contain it when you need it out of sight. 😊

turn a spare room into a craft room...or a spare closet! Get a wardrobe and make that your crafting space. Got a basement? Set up shop down there :)

Aside from trying to squeeze more space out of a tiny home, I have this unconventional idea. If you can afford it, you can sometimes find 5' by 6' storage units with power in them. If that isn't to your liking, advertise on social media for several crafters to go in on a small house. Managers don't mind if people share a place as long as everyone is on the agreement and it's actually advantages since you won't all be there at the same time. A co-op as it were. I hope that helps.

I can't remember wher I saw this....but it's basically a heavy plywood piece hinged to a wall , and has folding legs to support the other end of the table. it folds back up to the wall. Basement...spare bedroom...garage?

If you're able to spare a closet, even a very tiny closet, organizational shelving can be placed inside & a drop-down table top (board with hinges from hardware store) can be used as desk or work surface!

I share your small house pain! I had a walk-in closet for the master which is a huge waste of space so I converted half of it to crafting space. Nothing says you have to use rooms as they were intended if the original purpose doesn't fit your life and needs.

If you have a place where you can set a small sewing machine cabinet permanently that will greatly increase convenience. A large tall compartmentalized case with a handle for crafting tools, supplies and notions can be stored under the cabinet. The suggestion to use a wardrobe or an armoire is great but a plastic storage shelf, plastic drawers, under-bed storage or over- the-door shoe bags are options too. You could hide it with a folding screen if out of sight is preferred.

Thank you Inetia. I like the idea of a folding screen. I also have seen some ideas on pinterest using armoires that turned out really nice.
