3D Renderings: The Kitchen

We have finally firmed up ‘s layout and we couldn’t be more excited!! There has been a lot of back and forth with the Imagine Your Home team over the measurements, shifting windows, adding real dormers to the bedrooms, etc., etc. They have been amazing at tweaking our house design and getting it just right- thanks guys! And since I’ve been keeping a few of these 3D renderings to myself for a little while, it’s about time to share them with you guys!
The 3D renderings give the illusion of how our house will look but of course in a much better perspective, you know!? Sometimes it’s hard to picture how a room will look when you’re looking at it from a floor plan (bird’s eyes view) with no form of dimension. The design aesthetic of each room isn’t exactly the finish we are going with, however it’s to show a glimpse into our home before its even built thanks to Kendrick and Riley’s (Imagine Your Home) rendering expertise!
THE KITCHEN
When we started planning the layout of the kitchen, it was pretty clear that we wanted it to be located at the back of the house, overlooking the backyard. In our current home we have patio doors along the dining area and I love being able to see the boys playing outside as I’m prepping food at the island (I must always be on lookout for those two flighting or digging up the garden, seriously these kids are wild)! Also, I have always admired the look of a window above the kitchen sink, and Lester of Imagine Your Home had the great idea of adding an x-large window along the back kitchen wall, sitting along the counter, giving the illusion of being outdoors- we love that idea!
HERE’S A SIMILAR LAYOUT INSPIRATION PHOTO
We have 3 different designs happening below with open shelving featured around a custom hood vent. There will also be open shelving going in-between the kitchen window and patio door. Brent and I both loved the look of a 36″ range for extra cooking space, but in the end we decided to maximize the wall space and settled on a 30″ range. (Our kitchen walls are approx. 14 ft x 12 ft.) We are also going to move the microwave out of the pantry located beside the fridge and stick it into the island. We have also met with Woodland Horizon a local cabinetry company and we are SO excited to see what they have up their sleeves for our kitchen design. Let me just give you a heads up- the kitchen mechanisms these days, unbelievable!
OPTION 1 WITH SHELVING IN THE CORNER AND UPPER CABINETS FRAMING THE CUSTOM VENT. (MY FAVOURITE)
OPTION 2 WITH A BUILT-IN OVEN BELOW THE MICROWAVE AND A BUILT-IN RANGE TOP ON THE COUNTER. (BRENT’S FAVOURITE)
OPTION 3 WITH SHELVING ALONG THE UPPER HALF OF THE HOOD VENT. BUT WITH 3 ROWS OF SHELVES VS. THE 4 SHOWING.
While the kitchen layout is featured above, I’m loving these finishes. Something that was up for debate was incorporating brass into the design. As much as I love brass, I don’t know if brass accents are for me. However, there are some kitchens that are designed insanely good with brass being the highlight, and then there is black, giving me all the heart eyes too + it’s soooo classic!
As far as kitchen finishes, we are going with a shaker style white cabinet, wood shelving, black windows, black/gold sconces above the large window, a white marble like countertop and 2 black pendants above the island. Originally I wanted a black island, but the more I have been pinning kitchens, the more I am falling in love with an ALL white kitchen- call me crazy, two boys and a messy hubby, eeek! I may just have to wait until we inch closer and closer to install day…
Now this is something I do not need to decide on right away, but it’s still on my mind nonetheless:
larger + longer subway tile OR herringbone tile
white grout OR dark grout!?
OPINIONS PLEASE!!
