Building A House!!

SERIOUSLY, SOMEONE PINCH ME!
I have wanted to keep this hush-hush, well unless I ran into you in person and I couldn’t contain my excitement!!
It all just seems so surreal that we will be building a house, our DREAM house!? I almost feel as though I shouldn’t talk about it because what if something happens and our plans slip through. I always feel like we are beyond blessed and that it shouldn’t seem this way. That something bad will happen to our family because we’ve had it so good. Doesn’t that sound crazy? Probably, but this year my focus has been on feeling grateful for all that He has provided us with, that God gives us these blessings for a reason. Going completely off topic here, but when we we’re surprised with Jack, I thought my life was over, I never thought life would take me down this path towards all of these wonderful blessings and opportunities, a life full of fulfillment and joy. We have 2 healthy boys, strong families, amazing friends, a welcoming church, career paths we are both passionate about (although I’m still trying to figure mine out) and just plain out being born in a peaceful nation, Canada, is a blessing.
We are beyond grateful for all that we have!
It’s been our dream to move back to the country and raise our boys in a small community. Brent and I were both raised in small communities, and both love the outdoors, just having the space to drive around on ATV’s, graze the fields and roam the wooded areas letting your imagination run wild. I love the idea of hanging your clothing on a cloths line, picking fresh veggies out of your homegrown garden, and sitting on the porch watching the trees sway in the wind during a quiet morning– these are simple memories I’ve experienced while growing up on the country side.
NOW AS FAR AS BUILDING A HOUSE…
We bought over 1 acre in an area 30 mins outside of KW, which is close enough for Brent to commute to work each day. We will be living 30 mins closer to my parents and 5 mins from Brent’s parents. We bought a country lot in Phase 1 of 2 (18 lots in total) ranging from 1 ace to 6 acres which back onto conservation land… so we’ll be living the best of both worlds; experiencing country living but still having that sense of community in a neighbourhood.
We love the summer and we love being outside during the warmer months which is why we would love to put a pool in, plus if you know Brent, you know he’s a social butterfly, another reason for our friends and family to visit! With the location of our lot, we will have the sun from sunrise to sunset, it’s the perfect fit for us and the house design we are envisioning!! We still have a tree line which separates us from our developed neighbours and we plan to add in a few layers of trees as the lot is plenty big to do so icon
Now that the cats out of the bag, I have been dreaming up spaces, pinning like a mad women which you can take a peek at here to see the direction I plan to go with our new house. And I’m 98% sure I’ve named our new home
Currently we are working with a home design team, Imagine Your Home, who’s been taking our ideas, inspirations and rough floor plans, and working them into an authentic design custom to us. We are at the beginning process, where it’s really all about the layout of the house, design and aesthetic direction we are leaning towards with our future home. When we met with Imagine Your Home for our first consultation, Brent and I were blown away at how bang on they were with our design vision and knowledge within the building industry, that is what sold us on their services! Eventually I will go more into depth on our experience with our home design team and the step-by-step process.
If you have ever went though the building process or house renos, I would LOVE to hear from you: the pros and cons, the good and the bad, what you love the most about your home and what you regret!?
