Painted Desk Makeover

2 Materials
How do you amp up your decor AND save the earth? Refinish old furniture! We saved a hand-me-down desk with an awesome paint color and new hardware.
This is the original wooden desk. It has seen a lot of love!
The workspace had quite a bit of glue, paint, market, and water damage.
All emptied out.
The work surface was made from particleboard, so it did not sand as smoothly as we had hoped. We did our best and moved on.
The first coat of chalk paint left some streaks, but the second coat gave 100% coverage.
First coat.
Here you can see the difference between the first coat on the drawers and the second coat on the right trim piece.
Another comparison between one coat on the left, and two coats on the right. The paint did a great job of covering many of the flaws on this old desk.
An example of the coverage of a first coat. The second coat was smooth and opaque!
New hardware.
What a beauty!
This paint was wonderful to work with.
