My mother in law had this old rocker that had seen MANY colors of paint! But it was time to give it a whole new fresh look! So, she sent it over to me for a special treat! It may have taken far longer than it should have, but hopefully she still loves the end result,.. besides, I was just waiting for mothers day! ;-)
Before the Magic
Many layers and colors had to be removed (at least to some degree) since I wanted a nice smooth and also reliable finish! No one wants the paint flaking away on them as they enjoy rocking...
Look at those colors,...
As I began to clean the chair up and sand away to get a smooth surface, this is what I saw,.. Part of me just LOVED this look! I sort of wanted to stop right there! ...but I know my mother in law really would prefer something a tad more polished. :-)
First Layer..
I began with a light coat of my Country Chic paint, in a light blue,. I didnt want to paint it everywhere since this is only the base coat and I just wanted to have it peep through as I distressed.
Second Layer
I then went over everything with a solid second coat of a darker blue..

Colors and Materials are all listed HERE!
Playing with Stencils
Then I got to playing with stencils and Country Chics embellishments! Just lightly layering the embossing cream then the metallic,..
Metallic Embossed Stencil
I did decide to bring back a lot of the distress! I love how the embossing causes there to be a bit of an aura around the stenciling!
Lovely!
I just love how it all came together so well!! Rocking Chair Makeover How To
