They are attracted to red flowers.... mine love my red fushia bushes and pink camelias. They also like the huckleberry flowers.
They also like honeysuckle. They do like bright colors too.
I have so many hummingbirds in my yard. They drink sugar water from the 5 feeders I have. The key is to change and clean the feeders every 4 days as old nectar can make them sick. They also love bright colored flowers such as Lantana, etc. They are so comfortable in my yard that when I'm taking the feeders off the tree, they'll circle the area looking for the feeder and when I'm putting it back onto the tree, they're hovering and waiting to drink. They are a delight for sure. I live in So. CA.
Or Trumpet Flower Vine!
Hummingbirds love brightly coloured flowers. They love the bee balm, and trumpet vine in my garden. They also like day lilies, hollyhocks, lupine and columbine. and we often see them in our window boxes that we fill with petunias every year.
Hummingbirds love bottle brush trees/bushes that grow profusely in CA. Not sure how they would do in your area. We had a young Anna's hummingbird all winter this year.
Cypress vine, with a multitude of bright red blooms. In Oklahoma it is an annual, however; in your neck of the woods it would be a hardy re-seeding annual. Hummers like pretty much all flowering vines. Red trumpet vine and red honeysuckle are also favorites.
