Knotty Pine Walls in Bungalow Painted

Knotty pine is tricky. Scrub the walls down with a mixture of TSP (Tri-Sodium Phosphate, found at most paint/hardware stores) and hot water, sand the walls down, prime in oil primer, then use any latex paint. In this case, matte paint was used to hide most imperfections.

My walls have a LOT of shellac on them. Will chalk paint stick. I feel like I will at least need to sand and there are a lot of deep grooves in my walls also. This is a large project. It is my den, dining room and kitchen including the cabinets. Then if I really want to get spunky there is a large rec room in the basement with a small kitchen. All knotty pine.
