A Happy Bathroom Makeover for Under 10$
The guest bathroom was crying for a new look , good by brown dreary tone with no personality. I was paying attention to other décor details I forgot how dreary this bathroom really was..... So with a 4.50 qt of glidden country white , an opps little sample pot of glidden Bermuda Bay, a roll of stylish contact paper and a whole lot of Faux imagination I put my mind to work....
Here is the before ...poor tired bathroom, the strip in the middle is tape that I used to evenly divide the top and bottom.
And her she is smiling so happy don't ya think? I bet you think I spent a good amount of time installing bead board????? Well actually noooo, It is a matter of faux painting, seeing that the base paint was already dark I used the County white and simply painted it on held a yard stick up to help with the double lined indentations. To make the indentions I taped two brushes together and simply ran them down the yardstick and this gave a great look of Beadboard and the best thing of all it is not permanent so apartment dwellers could lavish this Faux technique.
I had an old door from a vintage cabinet that had seen better days so it fit perfectly in the window to use as a shutter to open from the side. When you have a piece of vintage furniture that can no longer live its life take it apart and save the pieces you'll be surprised how you can repurpose them!
For the top color I mixed just a tad of Burmuda Bay with the country white to achieve the color.
The countertop was a bit dated so I simply bought contact paper and to tone it down and get rid of the plastic look I simply gave it a white wash of Rustolieum painters touch that I always have on hand and so far it has shown to be super strong and durable.
I whitewashed the floor and used a large stencil
To divide the room I used some duct tape that I painted to look like old wood.
This is the tool I made to do the bead board lines.
Clean, bright and very inexpensively done! So with a little paint and some imagination you too can brighten up that dull room!
