Which are the best wood chips to use for landscaping?

    Pick a type with larger chunks, because it'll decompose more slowly. And choose bark-type mulches (such as pine bark nuggets) before shredded wood types (such as cedar, cypress and hardwood)

    Actually, pine bark is nice but it will not readily break down. If you're going to feed your plants regularly, they're great to use and it won't be necessary to add more for 2-3 yrs so, that's a money saver. I really like using natural cedar as it has a nice color and helps to keep many types of bugs away. Avoid cypress if possible simply because cypress trees are rapidly declining. If you rake leaves, don't toss them out but rather use them as the base for your plant beds and then mulch on top. As the leaves break down, they'll feed your plants as natur intended.

    Use a type that doesn't have dyes in it your plants will flourish.

    I like shredded cypress, doesn't float as many bark mulches do ,
