All it means is to cut off the blooms that are dead. Depending on the plant depends on where you make the cut. Generally the more you "deadhead the spent blooms" it tells the plant to produce more, be fuller and prettier. Google "how to deadhead flowering plants" - utube will have all types of videos for roses and just about any other plant that flowers.
all it means is to remove the dead flowers so the energy goes in to producing other flowers.
