Dump out the old soil, clean the pot thoroughly with soap and water with a bit of bleach, rinse well. Get a nice new plant that stands about one and a half times the height of the pot . put a coffee filter or a trimmed down paper plate in the pot to keep; the soil in and insert the new plant in the pot. Set the pot in a shallow pie plate or plastic tray from the plant shop. Do not fertilize. Water well and place it where it will get as much light as possible without being right in the sun. Do not leave standing water in the tray. Check the label in the pot of the new plant to see what it needs to thrive. Good luck!

Either poke holes, or put in a good lywe of gravel foe drainage...plants don't like to sit in water! Unless you use papyrus or other plant that grow s IN water

I agree. You need to poke holes in the bottom of the pot, especially if it is outside.
