Will professional carpet cleaners get the dog smell out of a rug 100%?

If I spend the money for a professional carpet cleaner, I want to know if it's possible to get 100% of the dog smell out. No cover up, I have a very sensitive nose.

  • I think you have to ask the carpet cleaner that. I know we steam clean our own and it works fine for us but we have 2 dogs and a cat and are just used to it.

I've always used Stanley Steemer and have had great success with both dog and cat odors. I only had one problem and thats when they sent a crew out that didn't know how to clean berber carpet and put way more water in the mix and took forever to dry. If you do have a special type of carpet just clarify when scheduling your appointment. Best of luck

I wouldn't count on it. The problem is that it almost impossibl to thoroughly clean the padding under the carpet . The only way to get the smell out is to replace it and purchase a home shampoo cleaner (not that pricey anymore ) and every time your fur baby has an accident on the carpet --clean immediately before it has a chance to sink down and set into the padding .

There is a product available in some of the pet stores called Petzyme. It is supposed to absorb odors and prevent stains.

    Sprinkle Baking Soda on it.

I have used Stanley Steemer and never had an issue. Be sure & tell them where the areas are that concern you. For the future go to the pet store & buy a spray bottle of Natures Miracle stain & odor remover. I swear this stuff is God's gift to pet owners. It removes urine, feces, drool, vomit & other pet messes. I have even removed that bright yellow dog barf with no stain at all. If you have an ongoing problem buy a gallon.
