How to keep wood rats out of car port?

We have a hybrid car and the rats like to eat all the plastic parts and wiring. The car sits in the car port and is vulnerable. Help

Spray peppermint around the carport and around the perimeter of your property. The cost of a good quality essential oil is far less expensive than replacing all the wiring on your car. I have had good luck with cleaning vinegar too, but don't get that on the car or any plants you wish to keep, as it will kill them and mess up your paint job.
