How can I update my Mirror in bathroom?

The bevel is beautiful but for adding to it, there is a conundrum. Hmm. I think it looks great as is, wood wouldn't update it, imo just make it busy and not nearly as upscale . The bevel hinders the addition of tiles. Can you put this mirror somewhere else and maybe get a new (or used) one to experiment on for the bathroom?

Thanks for your feedback. Removing isn't an option since we removed other very plain mirrors & caused some damage to the walls. They've been on for 22 yrs. I could probably live with the beveled edging on 3 sides, but the bottom straight edge is starting to show considerable age. Would perhaps a mosaic tile along the bottom only look too out of place?

What about adding some of those dollar store little glass pebbles? they might just do the trick. You could always do a test piece on a piece of wood and lay it on the bottom of the mirror. Worth a couple of bucks to see if you like it or not. Same goes with your wood idea. Try it out first. Tip though, if you do end u p using wood, make sure you paint the back of your trim because the mirror will reflect any missing bits of paint.

Some beveled glass is cut into the thicker piece of glass and others, like yours, look like an additional piece was added on top of the main mirror . This is done not only to save the contractor money , but the overall mirror won't be as heavy . I'd look into removing the beveled edges , then it will be easier to go from there .

I made a frame out of trim boards and then used heavy duty velcro to attach them.. They were white but i painted them again with trim paint to match. You could paint any color or design the boards as you like.. Just use a miter saw to cut the corners. very easy

If you have to keep the bevels, but are looking for a bit of something different....I would try putting a strip of small mosaic tiles (1/2" or 3/4") along the inner edge of the bevel...directly on the flat mirror part. I would just use one row....then, at the bottom, you could use the same mosaic tiles and make a strip all along the bottom, but make it 4-5 rows wide to give the base of the mirror some balance. Hopefully that makes sense.....

If you are trying to cover the bottom of the mirror because it has become defective, why not go to your local glass dealer and have them make you a piece of beveled mirror to match the three sides you have? It would update the mirror completely and hide the black spots. These mirrors are the IN thing in all new homes.

You can put a wooden frame over the existing frame

I have this same issue in my bathroom. I was thinking of getting some floorboard to put around the mirror to frame it. On the floorboard I was thinking of using those glass pebbles from the dollar store and maybe crushed shells or sea glass. Something to spruce it up. Some floorboard or crown moulding is pretty so maybe just pain some of that. And in case you want to try it first use the Velcro backing. That way you are not committed. That's what I'll do because I'm sure my husband won't like it. Lol.

Try just a simple POP of paint color!! ...to match an item or two on your counter top. Easy Peasy.

So not cover the bevels, Just stick wood or tiles in the middle. You could also use stick on tile covers for this exercise or Contact paper.
